Ediciones Singulares started in 2006 as a sub-label of Glossa, with book-CD releases by La Venexiana, Enrico Gatti, Le Concert Spirituel and the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, then became independent with the collection “Los escritores y la música” just for Spain and Latin America (2009), then from 2012 to 2019 published the first titles of what was later going to become the Palazzetto Bru Zane book-CD label. In 2025, it was reborn as a completely new independent label distributed worldwide by [PIAS].

The philosophy of Ediciones Singulares is, of course, to produce fine music (mainly in an early music context) with fine artists, but very especially to always provide a well though-out textual framework of essays which places the music in its context. Through his decade-long work directing Glossa, Ediciones Singulares’ producer Carlos Céster has always specialized in publishing high-quality and often “different” texts along with the music. Now he is going on to the next step. The intention is to give the listener a wider perspective on the historical, sociological and even psychological framework in which the music was created. This with the idea of creating the right basis for a truly enjoyable and rich listening experience. There will always be “exceptions that confirm the rule”, such as the releases co-prodeced with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, a highly prestigious Swiss institution which provides mainly academic texts for the recordings it supports.

Óscar Espinar Lázaro, a writer and IT expert, is a key figure in the development of this new incarnation of Ediciones Singulares. A close collaborator of Carlos Céster since the early nineties, he keeps on contributing fresh new ideas and non-standard ways of implementing them.

A small and exquisite team of designers, writers and translators is helping to keep the quality at the highest level: Valentín Iglesias, Jaime Orbañanos, Pierre Élie Mamou, Mark Wiggins, Susanne Lowien, and growing…

The label combines digital-only with physical/digital releases. In all cases, an extensive booklet is included, and freely made available on this web site.
